Conservation of energy usage is essential in chemical process plants due to the expanded users and demands alongside carry-on hike prices. This study analyzed performance savings a heat exchanger network (HEN). It based on decreasing utility while increasing process-to-process exchange HEN using path combination approach at different recovery temperatures (HRATs). The generates combined options for shifting from utilities exchangers HEN. In terms cost targeting, optimal HRAT determined each path’s option. focused crude oil preheat trains. Shifting load between implies adding subtracting loads Therefore, minor retrofit compensate transfer area required some exchangers. optimum corresponding lowest total was option ranged 8 °C 14 °C. Moreover, two out five with low capital investment short payback period were found be promising.
